Smashed Avocado Bruschetta

Instructions:

1. Toast the Bread:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Arrange the sliced baguette pieces on a baking sheet in a single layer. Drizzle with a little olive oil.
  • Toast in the oven for about 8-10 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Alternatively, you can toast the bread slices in a skillet over medium heat for a few minutes on each side.

2. Prepare the Smashed Avocado:

  • While the bread is toasting, scoop the flesh of the avocados into a bowl.
  • Mash the avocado with a fork or potato masher to your desired consistency (smooth or slightly chunky).
  • Add the minced garlic, lemon or lime juice, red pepper flakes, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix well.

3. Assemble the Bruschetta:

  • Once the bread is toasted, spread a generous amount of the smashed avocado on each slice.
  • Optionally, top with diced cherry tomatoes for a burst of freshness and color.
  • Drizzle with a little balsamic glaze for extra sweetness and depth of flavor, if desired.
  • Garnish with chopped basil or cilantro for a fresh touch.
