Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal of the meatloaf.
Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, milk, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, pepper, thyme, and basil. Mix everything together until well combined, but don’t overmix or the meatloaf may become dense.
Form the Meatloaf:
Transfer the meat mixture into the prepared loaf pan. Shape the meat into a loaf, pressing it down gently to ensure an even shape. If you prefer, you can form it by hand into a loaf shape and place it on a baking sheet instead of using a loaf pan.
Make the Glaze:
In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, and apple cider vinegar until smooth and well combined.
Top with Glaze:
Spoon the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf, spreading it out to cover the surface. Make sure it’s well-coated.
Bake the Meatloaf:
Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for 1 hour. The meatloaf should be cooked through, and the glaze should be bubbling and slightly caramelized.
Rest the Meatloaf:
Once the meatloaf is done, remove it from the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. This helps the juices settle and ensures clean slices.
Serve:
Slice the meatloaf and serve with your favorite side dishes like mashed potatoes, green beans, or corn. You can also drizzle extra glaze on top for added flavor.
