Pioneer Woman Cheeseburger Pie

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). If using a refrigerated pie crust, let it come to room temperature while you prepare the filling.

2. Cook the ground beef:

  • In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat until fully cooked, breaking it up into small crumbles as it cooks.
  • Add the onion and garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until softened and fragrant.
  • Drain any excess fat from the skillet.

3. Add seasonings:

  • Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine, and then remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.

4. Prepare the pie crust:

  • Roll out one of the pie crusts and fit it into a 9-inch pie pan. Trim any excess dough hanging over the edges.
  • Poke a few holes in the bottom of the crust with a fork to prevent it from bubbling up while baking.

5. Make the egg mixture:

  • In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. Add the shredded cheddar cheese and stir to combine.

6. Assemble the pie:

  • Pour the ground beef mixture into the prepared pie crust and spread it evenly.
  • Pour the egg and cheese mixture over the beef, spreading it evenly over the top.

7. Bake:

  • Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the pie is golden brown and set in the middle. You may want to check the pie around 20 minutes; if the crust edges are getting too brown, cover them with foil to prevent burning.

8. Add toppings:

  • In the final 5 minutes of baking, sprinkle the top of the pie with an additional 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese for extra cheesiness, if desired.
  • Once the pie is done, let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

9. Serve:

  • Serve the Pioneer Woman Cheeseburger Pie with your favorite burger toppings, like pickles, lettuce, or a dollop of ketchup and mustard on the side.
