30-Minute Chocolate Fudge Cake

Instructions:

For the Cake:

  1. Preheat the oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8-inch (20cm) round or square cake pan.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add wet ingredients:
    • Stir in the milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and egg. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  4. Incorporate boiling water:
    • Gradually add the boiling water to the batter, mixing gently. The batter will be thin—this is normal.
  5. Bake:
    • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool:
    • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

For the Fudge Frosting:

  1. Melt the butter:
    • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
  2. Add cocoa powder:
    • Stir in the cocoa powder until smooth.
  3. Mix in powdered sugar and milk:
    • Gradually add the powdered sugar and milk, alternating and stirring constantly, until the frosting reaches a smooth, spreadable consistency.
  4. Flavor with vanilla:
    • Stir in the vanilla extract.
